Looks just as good as it sounds!

 

Installed my second axle pivot bushing.

 

All on my 88 F150:
painted and installed the motor mounts and exhaust manifolds(black). Keeping exhaust manifolds till I save up for headers.
Also installed rear plugs, camshaft freeze plug, rear main seal, cleaned up the engine bay some more and moved the truck up front where it was easier to work on.
Engine is sitting in the truck but not stabbed into the transmission yet. Got to late last night.


Also yesterday unloaded the heaviest thing we have pulled with the 90 F150 a Kiln. Had to use the neighbors tractor to get it off.

Today I ran seafoam through the old tired engine. Got a little bit of a smoke show but nothing too dramatic. Seemed to clear up some things. I will probably run another can through again next weekend and change oil, spark plugs and other related parts.

Also put seafoam in the gas tank. That seemed to exacerbate a problem I already had, but actually in a positive way. I(and PO) have(had) been dealing with an odd fuel pump related issue. When the front tank was selected, the HPFP would function or at least sound(or not sound) like it was functioning the way it should. If the rear tank was selected I would get a clicking and pulsing sound coming from the HPFP. I originally thought it was the rear LPFP, so I dropped the tank and replaced it. That, however did not fix the problem. After adding the seafoam today, the HPFP started whining while also clicking and pulsing while the rear tank was selected. The front tank still yielded a seemingly normal operation. I drove it for a short while to clean out the seafoam I had introduced into the engine top end, and when I stopped I looked under to find that there was some gas leaking from what appeared to be the front tank. After looking a little closer, it actually seems like the fuel was being sprayed out of the line on the frame rail next to the front tank. So, I am wondering If I have actually had a very minor leak in the fuel line between the rear tank and the HPFP, and that is what has been causing the strange fuel pump behavior. Adding the seafoam maybe made the leak a bit more noticeable or something. I will look into it more next weekend, and hope that that is what is the problem and replacing the line will clear some things up.

 

Routine maintenance. Installed front brake pads and clips, adjusted rear drum brakes. My father-in-law helped out. Great bonding time.

 

Got the engine in, transmission mount in, starter in, everything underneath torqued down, AC and power steering bracket installed, fuel lines in, all of the unnecessary smog stuff removed and a few of the wires hooked up.


Got a lot more to do but getting closer every second. Tomorrow hoping to have the alternator and its bracket on, hood on, upper intake on, rest of the wiring hooked up, and plug wires routed. Maybe with some luck get the ac condenser and radiator in also.

Stepped up on this today and it broke off! Snapped like glass. Took about a pound of skin off my shin and made me say some really bad words! I don't know why it broke. It was a fresh break with just a little corrosion but not enough to make it weak. Oh well, I guess it was just its time.

 

I picked up a set of replacement rims for my truck! They're used off of an '88, but they're way better than what's on my truck right now! I'll need to get new tires, but the price was good... $140 for all four!

They were probably ok when they were new, but they're way past it now!

 

I like those wheels. Good find. I searched for a good used set around me but had no luck.

 

Today I shampooed my carpets. It was time, but it was hurried along today when the wife knocked a full soda in the floor with her pregnant belly.

 

Thanks! Keep looking, don't give up. I've had my truck for like 8 months and been keeping an eye out that whole time. Stuff pops up from time to time. I found mine on CL.

 

started painting the upper intake manifold, pressure washed the underneath, and found out I need a heli-coil to install the powersteering/ac bracket and alternator bracket.
Will pick that up as soon as possible.
