Yesterday installed lower intake manifold, stabbed the dizzy, and got her pretty much ready to be dropped in today. Just have to install the rear main seal and freeze plug in the back of the engine. Also exhaust manifolds and motor mounts.
Also pressure washed engine bay and picked up 6ft of vacuum hose.
Won't have her running right away but will hopefully have her in and somewhat bolted down today till I can get more work done on her Saturday or sunday.
This is on my 88 F150.
Once this is running and driving good I will park the explorer and start driving her! Can't wait to be back in a full size!

It was a little bit of work since I removed the bumper and the plastic air dam(?) before painting. Unfortunately you have to drill the rivets and I used some nice stainless screws to reattach.
Total cost was under $40ish and I still have all the bondo I can eat.
Well what are you waiting for?! Lol. I enjoy seeing my trucks brothers out there still running.

Well, yesterday I tried to do a quick check of the CCC solenoid, which is the 94 code the truck is throwing. As it started raining on me, I rolled under the truck, and disconnected the plug into the transmission... Of course, I managed to break the retainer on the plug... I found the clip on the shift position switch was also broken... So I ordered two repair kits on e-bay... Great... For now, I'll use a mechanic's trick with zip ties to keep them secure. And I discovered the transmission heat shield was missing... Anyone have a photo of one?

well this was two days ago, but I was working on the mustang touching up the paint on it (still have more to go) and took some of the clear coat touch up stuff and touched up a few spots on the truck, so that should at least help a bit with rust protection and prevention (i hope), now I just need to go out side and inspect and see if it worked at it started raining about 30 minutes later but it was a 70* day with very low humidity so I hope that helped some...

A little bit of kismet today... I actually drove her in to work today: I used a round a quarter tank going around 30 miles... So I think I need to figure why: I am planning to change the transmission fluid tomorrow, and I want to give her a compression check as well as new plugs... I hope to be able to afford a new cap, rotor & plugs shortly...
Anyway, I got a call this afternoon, asking if I still had the running boards I'd listed on Craigslist: I'd removed them from my 91 XLT lariat SC/LB, and had no use for them. I was asking $150/bo... Anyway, I replied I did, and he asked if I'd take $100 for them... Well, $100 in hand is better than a pair of running boards in the yard, so I said "SURE!" Worked out a meeting point, and in about half an hour I had $100 in my pocket, and he had my running boards in the custom built bed of his F-350 diesel dually...
Anyway- that $100 went into 4 gallons of Mercon, a couple bottles of Type F & some Bars Leak Power Steering Conditioner... I was going to get plugs, too, but found a couple other things I couldn't live without, so I have to wait on them. So now I know what tomorrow will bring- another day under the F-150 on ramps, new tranny juice, and a drained & refilled power steering system! I will also be doing the connector swap on the trans harness, hopefully between the new juice & the new connector, the MIL trip will go away for good... I am hoping to get a compression check in, if I can pick up new plugs- no point wasting motion replacing antiquated sparkers... And I'll probably set up the XM radio & roof marker lamps
So- anyone got any suggestions how to fix the mileage?

Start with a basic tuneup, like you're planning. Include a fuel filter, and check for leaks anywhere in your fuel lines, and check fuel pressure at the rail. If you're feeling ambitious, you could also clean your throttle body.
