I got the transmission mostly back in. A pox upon the engineer who thought the infernal slave cylinder was a good idea. But the passenger side is just a bit too far off for the bolts to go in. Got the two lower bolts in on the driver's side and they are tightened. The top driver's bolt is in hand tight, had a bit of trouble getting a socket on it. But everything on the passenger side is just short of the threads. Not sure if there is some trick or just lever and beat on it till it moves in. But I was running out of light and energy when I got it that far. Will jump back in and get it done tomorrow. Hopefully get everything back on and have a working truck again.
Well got the transmission in, all the tranny to motor bolts are in. Cross member is in place, but the mount is off just a fraction of an inch for those bolts to thread properly. I hope I can get it done tomorrow after work.
Drove the ol girl on a 650 mile round trip to go pick up a complete rust free box for her! The trip went wonderfully and don't have any hiccups!! The only problem was that I had to fill up more than I wanted too.... I managed to average 14.5 mpg overall.. Now it's time to start some more bodywork!
A big thanks to Encho for asking the question and to Edgethis for posting the pic showing the fix. Shift lever was flopping around, tightened the indicated bolts and PRESTO fixed.
sprayed more penetrating fluid on my exhaust bolts .... trying to loosen them up so that i can remove what's left of the exhaust and put the new exhaust on without having to take off the exhaust manifolds and drill out broken studs.
