What have you done to your truck today?
Cleaned up the doors, with both door panels off they were filthy. Lubricated the door latches, handles, and locks. They work much better.
Everything I read on the codes said to check electrical connections. Crawled under the truck and removed the heat shield around the transmission wiring plug. Got this unplugged and it looked fine. Did notice it appeared someone used clear silicone all over it. I dug all that out. Didn't appear to be old dielectric grease, but maybe it was. Used contact cleaner and sprayed it, then put new dielectric grease on it and plugged back in.
I cleared codes and then drove the truck. I noticed reverse and the 1-2 shift was not as hard as before, the truck drove great. This transmission has always shifted hard into reverse and the 1-2 shift and the 2-3 shifts have always been very firm. Some people say this is normal for the E4OD. But now it is shifting very smoothly? I liked it better, it was more drivable when it shifted smooth.
Once I got to town (and the truck got hot?) I lost first gear again. This time I could manually shift to first gear, whereas before I could not. I drove the truck home by shifting it manually.
I got the following trouble codes:
56 = Transmission oil temperature sensor fault
99 = Electronic Pressure Control (EPC) circuit failure
It has to be something simple. Once the truck is cold the tranny works fine. So she's still a driveway queen!

To all that are thinking about it... repeat after me:
Silicone is not for sealing electrical connections
Silicone is not for sealing electrical connections
Silicone is not for sealing electrical connections
Ok, I feel better now.
You might want to generally check over the other connections on the truck and see where else the PO decided to use his new found miracle cure.

Personally I like the dark gray and black one the most.
Yesterday got the flatbed on the 92 F250. Looks great. Just got to paint the flatbed black and then it is all good.

If I decide to repaint the truck...that's the color I'm leaning towards.
I'm Just waiting for a price from the body shop to see what it's going to cost to repaint it all the same color. But I've been told my shade of red is expensive.

When I first got it, I hated the color. But after 4 years it has grown on me, and everyone I know says leave it the same or paint it black....lol. I'm still undecided at the moment whether or not I'll change the color.

The reason I'm thinking of keeping it red is because if I change the color, the only way to do it right is to paint inside the door jambs, backside of the doors, and the entire engine bay.
So if I make it a different color, it won't be another shade of red

Ya I fully understand that. When the PO of our bronco II painted it they never painted the door jambs. When I painted it again I didn't care as it is a trail truck. So now the door jambs are red, orange, and blue from the different trucks I have used to put it together. LOL

Nothing today, but over the last week or so I've replaced ignition key lock cylinder, tightened up a loose shifter tube, fixed rattle in the passenger door (plastic bushing gone on the striker, I cut a piece of old fuel line to fit back on it, worked like a charm), removed sagging headliner to try my hand at fixing it myself, but I'm diggin the painted ceiling. I'm thinkin about leaving it that way.
Tomorrow I'm hopefully gonna tear into the driver door to replace window motor. Hope that goes smooth.
