Got started on the oil change today, put the new filter on also but the filter wrench I was given by the fail zone (autozone) was too small for my napa filter...so now I have to wait to drive the truck and put oil in her... Thankfully I got access to the car so it helps, which I will be fixing tomorrow also, it has two bulbs that are burnt out...so in all should be a productive trip I hope...

@puddy: nice turns, do you have a direct link to them? I think I found my better bulbs for the turns and corners, looks great on your rig

Replaced the motor mounts on my 5.8 and in the process I compared the old part to the new part and the solution was right in front of me and I didn't even see it...with one bolt left literally on both the passenger and driver side I found out that the bolt holes on the new parts were off by almost half an inch and I had remove all the bolts again and from when I compared the parts I should have paid attention to the bolt hole locations on the motor mounts....so having went through the whole process once I had to do it again to get the new parts back out and grind the holes a bit more I had quiet a few choice words for the "MADE IN CHINA" parts...I am going to save up my funds and buy the ones from Bronco Graveyard...

Also got my timing set properly, which got out of timing when I replaced the oil pump the drive shaft fell out and so removed the distributor after I put the pump back and slid the drive shaft back down into the oil pump and put the distributor back on.

Went to Pull-A-Part to get a part for my other car and while I was there spotted a '93 F-150 with a near perfect tailgate.. even was black. Had a small dent on the lower right and a even smaller ding on the upper left... but other than that it was nice. Paid $50+tax for it and put it on when I got home. It was the standard base model tailgate that has the FORD embossed into it, and not the XLT model with the brushed aluminum panel... but that's ok. For $50 I can live with it.
I had a 5th wheel tailgate on the truck and am getting a camper shell soon... so I was looking for a good tailgate. Cheapest I had been seeing was in the $250'ish range though.
btw- a Ford tailgate will fit in a '97 Mercury Tracer 4dr with the trunk shut... lol Thank god for fold down rear seats!

You won't like it that much when it starts to eat the bed... It's your truck, but the exhaust can be quite corrosive, stretch the pipes at least to the side of the truck.

Yesterday was my first full day with my new 94 longbed F150 with the inline 6.

Changed the oil, cleaned out the coolant resevoir (apparently had been sitting up, and there was nothing but grime in the bottom of it), and ran some seafoam through the brake vacuum and rear fuel tank. Front pump is still inop. Saving that for another weekend.

Today, I'm finishing up the tuneup:

Fuel Filter change
Air Filter change
Distributor Cap
Rotor
Plugs
Wires
Timing

Question on the timing. Can anyone help me locate the SPOUT connector on this 4.9? I had a little trouble picking it out last night. A picture would be great. There's a random two-wire plug hanging out *near* the distributor that's disconnected. I'm assuming it's not the spout since my gas mileage is good and power seems good enough for the 300.

What did I do to my truck today? Well, the wind caught my passenger door and violently flung it open. The door didn't want to shut after that. You can take a guess what we spent the rest of the day doing

We got it to close again, but we had to add a bunch of washers to the bolts on the door. The good news is the door doesn't sag at all anymore, but the bad news is the front half of the door doesn't seal at all. Now I have to go junkyard diving for new door hinges.

I was just about to start doing fun stuff to the truck too instead of fixing things. So much for that.

Got to the air filter, cap, rotor, and wires yesterday. Also took down the Idle Air Bypass and cleaned it out. I snapped a couple pics showing the mess that was in there.

Close-up:

I let the block cool down overnight, and pulled the first spark plug this morning. I woke up to what I'm guessing are 140k mile plugs....They gapped at .85[/B]

Fuel pump today, and I'll try to get the other 5 plugs done tomorrow AM early.
