And I don't have the money for that kit, it's $60 a side, seriously? Nevermind, I'm dumb, it's for all 4 nuts. Maybe I will go pick it up tonight at the O'Reilly's warehouse.
Yea sidewinder, I know about 50 ways to fix it and make it do whatever I want it to, lol...I just kinda wanted it as the factory intended. But I'm most likely gonna do something different. Definitely adding more lights, I've just always thought it was kinda cool when you get in to/use an older vehicle and all the little things that normally never work (lights, knobs/handles, etc) work perfectly....I'm just odd like that.
stripping my truck down to bare bones preparing her for the body shop.
all lights, emblems, trim, toolboxes, mirrors, door handles, key locks, everything sort of removing glass to save $! even the stake sides on my dump bed need to come off to fit the shop.she's looking naked! but oh boy, when she comes back, they'll have to film for a pimp my ride episode.
'Twas a good afternoon! I kept having an issue with no power assist about every 5th driving cycle w/ my E series saginaw conversion so I replaced the pressure fitting in the back of the pump w/ the orig that came w/ the sagi pump, flushed the system and gave it a PROPER bleed this time as I wasn't in a hurry! Right as rain now. Also changed the oil, flushed the cooling system & best of all... NEW Monroe Gas Magnums on all 4 corners. What a difference! By the looks of the old shocks I'd say they were the originals (139K). The front two were TOTALLY dead. Like riding on a cloud now, well compared to what it was anyway.
This weekend: Recharge the A/C system & clean/ polish the headlights.

Went to the junkyard to get a new spindle. Found one that looked brand new on a 94...my mistake. It has 5 bolt holes instead of 6. Well, guess I go back tomorrow and try again! Tried to get the hub lock out of a 92 to get that spindle, but the tip of my scribe broke and I couldn't get the outer lock ring out! I will try that truck again. Something else I saw almost made me sick. an 87-91 truck, 4x4, beautiful and perfect paint sitting in the processing yard. I asked them if it was for sale and he said they can't sell it until they process it.

The problem with America today is stupidity. I'm not saying we should punish the stupid people, but perhaps take the safety labels off everything and let the problem solve itself
Went to the junkyard, looking for the mercury switch I need for my underhood light. Was near the end of the day but I got to look. Looked at every Ford out there, only found ONE that had the same style mercury switch...a 90 F150 XLT Lariat 4x4. But it had been broken off and was gone. So I stole the connector from it (lost mine), and stripped the wires back, twisted them together and taped it to make a nice jumper. Broke off the lock tab on it too, so I can simply plug it where my mercury switch connects and my underhood light will work...then pull it right out when I'm done.
But...as I was walking out...I glanced at an '85 Bronco that looked too nice to be in a yard...and scored THIS!
I took it and the entire wiring harness with clips. $6. Hahah. Reel retracts great...now, I haven't got it to work yet (needs a bulb but checking it with a test light it doesn't appear it functions) but I'm going to tear into it. I know what's wrong with it....it, too, has a mercury switch. So I'm gonna remove the internal mercury switch, wire it just to work...and either put an external mercury switch on it or an external switch on it.
Also, I found a lot of other F-L-M vehicles with different style of mercury switches, so I will be back and I will grab some to wire up for my truck. Gonna make this crap work/look factory...heheh

That's an awesome score.
I scored one myself from another member on here. It works, but only intermittently. Eventually, I will disassemble and repair it.
