Replaced the cheap Midland CB that quit working for a Uniden PC78LTD and added twin 4' antennas to the side of the bed. I wanted to mount behind the cab, but the brackets I had were too big. In hindsight, I guess I could have mounted to the frame between the bed and cab...but it's too late now. Range is quite good with this set up, after tuning everything in properly.

I also ordered up a pair of wheel arch repair panels, as well as a fuel filter and air filter. Bed arches will begin in a few weeks, and the filters as soon as they arrive. I also ordered ANOTHER blasted latch for the rear sliding window. The last one I ordered broke the first time latching it. The replacement I ordered is a metal one that I'm likely going to have to alter to fit...but it shouldn't break on my again.

Tomorrow, a new shifter boot will arrive, and if the rain holds off, I'll go out and replace the one that's ripped. It gave up the ghost when the transmission was replaced.

Got a new fuel pump in my new rear fuel tank, began a rear brake job, got the left side done, new wheel cylinder, brake shoes, brake drum. replaced the hose on the axle to frame but ran into a glitch, one side of the hose has small threads and other side had a larger thread so need to go back to O'Reilly tomorrow, hope to finish with all new brake lines. All of this on my 1991 F150.

Loaded up 1.5 yards of 3" minus fill (mostly rocks) Saturday to transfer to 5 gallon buckets hand carried to fill in a privy hole.

Washed the truck Sunday.

Purchased it a couple of weeks ago.

I finally got around to replacing the rear shocks. The PO had these super sized overload shocks with the springs built in. Ya, I removed the springs, but it still road like a tank. Finally got a pair of Monromatics and it now rides like a normal truck.

Did get the CB mounted and wired up, bracket for antenna painted but need a new coax to hook it up.

Well, the shifter boot is all wrong, so that was sent back. I did get the fuel filter and air filter replaced.

Lousy smog checks . . .

Took my '97 F250 in for its Bi-annual smog only to have it fail miserably. The last two times, it was high on HC but passable. this time it was over 2000 on NOX during the 25 mph roller segment. I'll have to do some troubleshooting now, since the truck runs perfect in my opinion and there are no trouble codes.

I almost wonder if the inspector deliberately failed my truck because he was real big on telling all the customers in front of me it was $25 for the retest. He's a STAR inspection station but he doesn't do work or refer work.

Oh well, not going to be a good week/weekend. BTW, this is the first failed smog check I've had in the 40-plus years I've had to smog a vehicle. Even my '71 Ranchero with a 351C, tweaked a bit, passed with flying colors. This really bummed me out.

Gotta hand it to my brother...he overnighted the shifter boot too me, along with the inner boot. It looks darn near brand new...like it may have been a replacement put on right before the trip to the salvage yard. Anyway, it's on and feels great now.

I took it to a shop this morning to have the alignment checked, and it's in good shape. However, they gave me a laundry list of items that it needs, to include a u-joint. I hope it lasts through the winter...

I acquired an oil pressure sending unit today...a 'pressure sending unit' as opposed to an oil pressure 'switch'. This was thanks to a forum member who viewed a photo of my 7.5L and noticed I had a 'switch' instead of a 'sending unit'.

The engine in question is in the finishing stages of installation, and I haven't run it yet, still in the process of final odds & ends.

I removed the oil pressure switch, gathered up my receipt, and the original box, and headed back to the parts store.

This parts store, Autozone, was happy to swap my 'switch' for a 'sending unit'. The guy brings out the new sending unit, opens the box, and shows me a 'switch', lol. Same part number on the box, same part number stamped into the part.

They sell one part...the same part...and call it both a switch, and a pressure sending unit...while it's only a 'switch'.

Credit goes to the sales person who was just as baffled as I was and had a sense of humor. Got a full refund and went down the road to the competition and acquired an actual pressure sending unit.
