Started replacing the drivers side rear shock this evening. I really expected it to be no big deal, but as with most other things on this truck it is resisting improvement! I couldn't get the lower nut/bolt loose. It was rusted hard in place and I ended up rounding the nut out. So, no big deal, I figured I'd just cut it off and replace it with new ones. But after cutting it off, it still won't come out. It feels like the lower shock mount that I'm taking off didn't have a metal sleeve in the rubber bushing. So, the threaded bolt won't push through. The rubber has ahold of it so I can't push it through or ratchet it out. It just spins in place. I've tried a dozen different things, and I'm at a loss as to how to get it out at this point. (I'm all ears if anyone has any suggestions!!)
cut the head off the bolt as well
Did some four wheeling the previous weekend, in deeper mud than I've ever driven in. My friend's 4Runner with 33x12.5 Duratracs would float over the mud holes, and my truck would sink and dig to the bottom of the hole before moving. So today I greased all 15 grease zerks to push any water out, pulled the rear driveshaft, greased the slip yoke & cleaned up the seal on the t-case (there was some grit in there causing an awful squeal). Pulled the front hub lockouts and checked for any water in the hubs, all was well. Checked rear diff oil & t-case oil, no water and still full. On the to do list is tire rotation, clean up brakes, and an oil change.
Finally decided to swap out my Cherry Bomb glasspack for a Flowmaster Super 10 single chambered muffler, along with all new pipes and a turnout before the rear tire on my '95 F150 5.8l. I love the new sound! I sort of miss the raspy "open" sound that the glasspack produced, but I love the rumble of the Super 10 and I'm happy with the result!
I had my windows tinted yesterday. 54% on the front, 17% on the rear, and a strip across the top of the windshield. I'm debating whether or not I want to keep the windshield strip, I'm not liking it as much as I thought I would. Besides that though I'm loving the tint; looks good, the nighttime visibility is still good, and the temperature inside the cab is WAY more tolerable.

So, the AC hasn't worked in my truck since I bought it. Front seal in the compressor failed.
Anyways, I bought a front seal kit for the compressor today ($11.65). Pretty involved job. Have to take the compressor apart almost completely. Did that, and a friends of mine has all the **** to evac, and charge AC systems at his house. Swung by there after I finished putting the compressor back in the truck. Now it has ice cold AC, and I'm in the entire job for $11.65.

I took advantage of the nice weather this afternoon and got a few projects done on the truck that I've been wanting to do for a while. First, I replaced the old argent gray grill and headlight bezels with a used chrome set, thanks to FTE member WidowMaker13. I bought his old chrome set when he changed his to black. It's going to take a lot more than some chrome bits to really get my truck looking great (like rust repair, paint, etc), but I think between the new chrome face and the new wheels I put on last month it's really starting to look a lot better!
A few pics:
After the new face, I finally got around to taking the old bed liner out. I've been wanting to see what the condition of the bed underneath was. There was quite a bit of junk under there, but overall it wasn't as bad as I feared. There are a few places with some rust starting to bubble up. But the metal seems strong still. So hopefully I can clean it up and not have to replace any metal.
Ran it through the car wash to rinse the bed out after sweeping it. There's even a little shiny paint in the bed still!
This is the worst of the rust.
Prior to today a friend helped me replace my front springs, the upper and lower ball joints, radius arm bushings, front rotors, calipers, and pads, and front wheel bearings.
Tomorrow I am planning to remove the old (hideous) hitch and replace it with one I got from my father-in-law and also replace my rear shocks. It is doubtful that I'll have time to get into the gaskets that I need to replace. That'll probably have to wait for another day.

Not sure which route you plan on going with bed liners, but I recommend checking out Bully Liners, Bully Liner | Truck Bed Liner, Anti-Slip Coating -- it really is a neat product! If you have any questions, or you go with it and have feedback, I'd love to hear it.

Trans temp gauge
Installed Bosch temp gauge, nothing goes smoothly. Mounted gauge , no problem, went to put sensor in test port- no fit, would only go in part way. Sensor tip is approx. 5/8" long won't fit! Had to drop pan and weld in fitting, only bright spot, also put in drain plug. Now wwe're cookin' I think, ha, no such luck, gauge is bad, checked wiring and sensor nope, just gauge. Back to Amazon, new gauge on the way . What a day!

Just spent half my paycheck today on truck parts. New intake and timing cover gaskets and a brand new fuel pump. Fuel pump is on its way. Tomorrow I start on hopefully getting oil pressure. If I get oil pressure tomorrow then going to test drive her then park her and will pick up trans fluid sunday and Monday will replace trans filter and speedometer gear.
Hopefully everything will go as planned going crazy not being able to drive my baby.
