I ususally keep mine for a long time because I can't afford to keep upgrading. I went from a 77 F150 to my 01 if that tells you anything.

"Both", and the fact that it's way over rated for the price and the amount of defects, but at least the tundrs is in the same class. 4-Wheel off/road picked a rav 4 as 4x4 of the year awhile back, or some such vehicle, while passing over the jeep rubicon. Common sense would tell you which is the better off roader if they had sny.

Wendell, around here, Toyota is offering 5 grand off MSRP, and the local dealers are taking another 3 grand off MSRP to move the piles, er Tundra's off the lot.

Around here, a Hodge Podge Dodge Ram with a Hemi can be bought for 11 grand off MSRP.

It isn't working, at least for the Dodge. The March sales figures for Rams was down 31.3% from last year, and annual sales were down 24.6%.

But some of us that read the specs should note that the F-150 SuperCrew has the same payload, and is 160 lbs. lighter. And the F-150 has head and side airbags that Toyota doesn't offer (or any other truck for that matter). All that can be done for now is to let Toyota have their time in the sun, because Toyota's competition is going to start bearing down on them quite hard, IMO. Toyota has made itself a moving target.
The Tundra has head and side airbags standard as well as stability control. That's the reason why it was picked as "safest" pickup by the insurance institute (I believe) even though it didn't have the best (all 5 star) crash results but it did have the most safety features standard.

The Silverado was picked over the Sierra because there are more Silverados sold than Sierras; therefore the Silverado was the winner based on "market significance".

Hey ddl_cgy, I don't recall reading that in the write up and didn't see it in the specs, but if I miss-represented myself, then I apologise.

No surprise there considering the cost of living in Southern / central Cali. No one is giving anything away here in South Eastern, Va. Gas is still around 3.25, housing market is weaker than last year but viable and people are somehow scrapping the money together to get new vehicles.

I'm going to sit ont he sidelines until 2010 and see how the new generation F-150 and freshened - up SD pans out.

I keep mine a few years as well, but I haven't been able to even buy new yet so that puts me out of that warranty bracket.

Secondly, would you feel much better about the award if they gave it to the Silverado and not the Tundra?

So I take it group hugs all around when they vote the 09 F150 truck of the year next year?

Or will it be the 09 Ram?
id rather a silverado get it than a tundra, its atleast american!
