I'm running 315/75/16 BFG's on 10x16 rims with 6in and they fit but can rub when full turns and going over a bump.
What kind of mileage are you getting and how does the truck perform with your 4.88 gears and 315 tires? Looking at doing a gear change in my truck but do not want to reduce any mileage on the road but would be nice to keep in O/D better and also pull a little better.

37" on 6" Superlift.. on a side note I have helper springs in the front to offset the bumper weight.

You realize you'll need to keep the Ex until your son can drive it. In 12 yrs the ole chebby Volt just won't cut it for him...

 

Max tire size would be 44"...(with cut-outs)

 

With cut outs your still not gonna put a 44 under there I assure you....

Sorry, I read the post wrong...thought you meant fender flares...I guess you could put tractor tires under it if you cut it enough
