4.2L V6: How do I clean the EGR ports?
I keep hearing everyone talking about EGR ports, but I am getting varying locations. I always thought the EGR ports were directly behind the EGR valve, where it mounts up to. However some have told me to remove the throttle body. Am I correct in that all I need to do to clean the EGR ports is to remove the EGR valve, and spray a bunch of throttle body cleaner into the ports where the EGR mounts?

on v8 modular all you do is remove the throttle body plenum/ elbow/ neck whatever else they might call it & use whatever works drill bit / screw to remove the carbon buildup on the egr ports once removed you can see what needs to be cleaned everything basically... but on v6 4.2 i think it gets more complicated because you have to remove the upper plenum / which should be around 14 bolts to get to but dont know for sure i think for v8's was simple but then again havent done it for my v6 f150. MIGHT WHAT TO GO TO THE (V6) FORUMS ON 3.8/4.2 Engines could get more info there ...its toward the bottom just scroll down you'll see it... sorry couldnt be more help..GOOD LUCK! i might have to do it some time later on mine!
