So I built this big table top kicker jump for my back yard to help me in setting up my shocks on the wheelers. Well I got this smart idea to drive my truck up it. Well, I got up on it without it breaking, got out to get a picture, and crack, no more jump.
been there done that... not fun...

its an open 1" spacer on top. I didnt touch the divider except to touch up some casting flaws
If you read what Randy wrote to me, he said when using the open spacer, round out the top of the divider to sort of split the air, as the flat square edge will create some unwanted turbulence when the air/fuel mix tries t ofigure which way to go into the intake. Just some more stuff to think about.

that would work i guess, just the thing im worried about is im just learnin how to weld, how hard is it to weld that to get the proper penitration and all, of course my dads buddies real good and hes teachin me but i could always get help from him, or maybe i could just run the full length axles under there, would get better stability and all like matt said, id just have to do a little fabbing to make the spring perches line up and all
only thing to consider when going full size is how far your tires are gonna stick out. some flares will take care of that usually. with going leaf springs just stay away from the 78 and 79 44s i think it is. they would work but not as well. then just buy some spring perches set your pinion angle and weld them on. coil springs for the most part are a no brainer if you do your research. use stock radius arm brackets and arms and then your spring buckets can be adjusted to work. wait is the ranger coil or torsen arms im not sure on the 2wheel drives.
You should be able to make them fit with very little persuasion.
Karl,
my headers are L&L 77.5-79 F250 frame exit headers. Im pretty sure these would be the same but just not meant for my truck. All my searching has found zip in the aftermarket for 2"-2 1/8" headers without going custom made.
Didnt you read that removing any part of the center divider would hurt performance on a dual plane intake?

Yeah, but I talked with him offline about the spacer issue (2" 4 hole and 1" clover), and that 's when he said not to cut it down as it would hurt performance, but rather smooth out the top to divide the flow better. For your street/strip motor, and only the 1" spacer, I don't think it will do much for you, where with me going a full 3" over the pad, I need all the direction I can get to keep the air speed up and moving to feed the high rpm cam.

Speaking of moving on, did you hear the Monsterbaby did in fact sell that nasty ranger of his! It sort of made me sick when I saw over on 460ford that he was selling a bunch of his race stuff.

im not sure about that, havent payed much attention to the suspension on this one haha, im sure a set of fener flares will do the job if i go full length axles, im really thinkgin about going that route now, so you're saying coils and rad. arms would be easier? hm i may just do tha then, id get better flex outta good coils too im sure

Karl,
here is a great writeup Charlie Evans did on 460ford.com. This made me sort of rethink my opinions of "needing" larger headers.
as you can read he tested 2" vs 2 1/4 primarys on a TFS headed 557 (drool!)
below 5300 rpm the 2" headers gave more power and above 5400 the 2 1/4s were better.
For my build wanting max power below 5800rpm it seems I may be better with the headers Ive got. The 3 or 4 hp Ill gain at the flywheel above 5400 will not be worth sacrificing the hp Ill loose down low

He didnt want an awful lot for it. Id bet you wouldve come out much better buying his truck and droppin the motor in than building your truck from scratch.

X2.......2" ers are plenty for your build......

I read that article and meant to pass it alongto you for reference. I was sort of wondering how my 2 1/8 tubes would do with my relatively small motor, and knowing that I will live most of my time between 4-6k rpms, it sort of put me to ease that they will work out just fine for my needs. Opposite worlds collide!!!
