its almost like god wants me to built this Ranger, just lookin around on craigslist locally here, found a guy who has a set of axles out of a 73 Bronco which sounds like the perfect axles for this 98 Ranger, best part is, he wants $400 for the set D44/9" imma try and get dad to buy them since he kinda wants to do this build too, if not i may have to jsut save and see if i can get them, probably need to be rebuilt some for that price but still dont sound too bad to me
Doesn't sound like a steal or anything, but definatly not bad.
You'll want to rebuild/replace just about everything and do a disc brake conversion, which will add up to quite a little bill.
I'm sure you'll plan on regearing right?
Simply just curious...what type of wheeling will you be doing? Trails?
In certain type of wheeling, full width axles make the truck more stable.
Just a comment.
The Early Bronco axles would fit perfectly under the ranger, but that doesn't make them the only way to go.....

It's Ford Impliment red in a high heat ceramic (VHT 1200* paint!). The body of the ranger is going to be the Ford dark blue (like my bike and F-350), so I wanted something to contrast a bit. Sort of a red/silver-white/blue theme, again the same as my bike.
Also everyone knows my green truck with the all red suspenion links (radius arms, trac bar, boots), so I am going that route again, except adding the motor.

Yeah ill definatly be regearing, im not sure what size tires yet but i was thining and figure 35s would be good for now atleast, i dont know alot of diesels but have seen yall talking about how the gearing is different, i figure 4.10s would be about right, not sure about it though with the diesel...
And yeah this will be a daily driven truck for the most part but itll be used for wheelin on trails and stuff like that (again i want to drive it everyday just because ill probabyl be running SVO, this wont be the typical DD) i had thought about fullsize axles, im not the most experienced and this will be my first real build thats this in depth so i was thinking the D44/9" from the early broncos would be easiest and still be good for what i will use it for, however im open to possibilities, im sure i could find fulsize axles for pretty cheap, how hard would it be to set them up under a ranger? i may consider running leafs because it would be easier, but im thinking coils will be better for a trail truck, hmm thats got me thinking, i wonder how hard it would be to get the fullsize axles to work under there

be sure to run a tap threw those spark plug holes.
Already done! I was takign a quick break as I had just finished running a thread chaser through all of the rest of the holes, and was on my wy to find the plug chaser when I picked up the camera for a quick pic, just to mess with Kris.

andrew that just an excuse to build one bigger and better.
karl x2 on the tap and nice jpb as much as i hate the color. edit: ya already fixed the plugs
mike full width is only 6 inches over early bronco, if you wanted get the full width cut an inch off drivers side and 5 off passengerside and run early bronco shafts. would prob be cheaper then trying to find eb housings. plus while you have the knuckles off yo could rotate for proper pinoin angles if they arnt already. as far as steering goes your gonna half to find a box from a truck with out rack and pinion and mount that somehow. this shouldnt be too much a problem with the 4bt not being as wide as a v8 and people have shoe horned a 4.6 into a ranger with little mods to the steering.

that would work i guess, just the thing im worried about is im just learnin how to weld, how hard is it to weld that to get the proper penitration and all, of course my dads buddies real good and hes teachin me but i could always get help from him, or maybe i could just run the full length axles under there, would get better stability and all like matt said, id just have to do a little fabbing to make the spring perches line up and all

Is that a spacer on top of the pad, or did you cut the divider down some? Either way it looks good, and the open center should help boost the top end power some.
