Talking Someday....Is Today! Part II

Well folks, it's official. "Someday" is now on the road. Got the new windshield yesterday and installed it, took a short run to the tire shop this AM for new shoes and a front end alignment. Drove it about 30 miles after that, besides a few rattles and squeaks, no surprises. Nothing fell off, and as far as I can tell, nothing shook loose. The little MB diesel performed well, plenty of pep and it ran out good on the highway.
Drove around town for a while and couldn't believe all of the stares and waves that I got, seems people like what they see. Even my buddy who's a diehard Chevy man likes it.
If my grin gets any wider, the top of my head will fall off
I think me and my Ol Lady will take it to a local car show Saturday, finally we will be participants instead of spectators

Isn't the momentum of accomplishment a wonderful thing? Soon as the threat of snow is past, I'm inspired to take Old Horse out and tell him he has to catch up to Someday.

Good going, Jeff!

So Jeff...I'm just waiting to know...does the diesel break the tires loose?..LoL
I'm sure it's got the torque to cruise with...but did the turbo come with the install?
Congrats on the glass!!

Jeff, I am so glad for you after following your threads and comments for some time. I think you will not only have fun at the cruises, but also be one of the stars. Yours is very unique and will most likely draw lots of attention, so don't stray to far. You will need to answer lots of questions. Don't forget to take a camera with you to get photos of the crowds looking under the hood ( or between the fenders ).

Yes and yes, it will break the tires loose, but there's only the weight of the bed shell on it right now, not even a floor. And yes the turbo was part of the swap. The 5 cylinder MB diesel is only rated at 125 HP but a diesel has a much broader torque range than a gasser.
For the moment I am using a speedo from the donor car mounted in the original gauge cluster, and it reads correctly, so the final drive ratio must be very close to what was in the donor car.

We plan to put in quite a bit of seat time this summer, there is at least 1 local car show per month around here throughout the summer, and we plan to hit them all. The first will be this Sat, I'll have to wash the truck to get it ready. I'll get some pics up after it's bath.
