Seriously Tom, Good Job on sticking to it. I think the whole idea was to grind you down till you just gave up. There's a lesson here for all of us. It would be really neat if you could get a picture of your "old" 08 sitting next to your new truck for us to drool over.

I will try!!

Congratulations Tom!!! If you compare the fuel prices and the upkeep costs, I would probably buy a gasser. The only thing that keeps the diesel ahead in the game is the miles the engine can take before rebuild. If you are going to keep it a long time I would go with the diesel. If not buy a gasser. Either way, CONGRATULATIONS on your win.

I settled at the hearing with the Ford person, the BBB did not need to do anything.
you keep your truck till you find a new one but, they give a time line of 30 days but I asked for 45. If the BBB needs to rule they will take a few days to give a decision.
I don't want to get it to it any more than that. because of the rules on this site!

See Maxium I learn lol

By the way 08 CC f250 short bed SW V10 430 gears auto Dark stone with two tone paint leather loaded with everything you can get!!!! That is what I am ordering!!!!

Congrats on getting a new truck. 30 to 45 days may be a bit short, it took better the 90 days to get this one. I may need to hoof it for a while When you say everything, I assume the backup sensors and the camera, Don't know how a made it with out em now that I had 3 months to play with them. Hooking up has never been this easy!

Thumbs up

Congratulations on winning the war, and getting a new truck. I currently have a 1999 PSD that I got as a result of a 1997 that had to have the engine, transmission, and rear end replaced. Ford agreed to replace the truck when the rear end was having problems. I like the 2008 SD, but I'm feeling uncertain about the diesel. Do you know anyone that has a V10, and pulls a trailer/5th wheel in the 11,000lb range. I'm wondering if a V10 can handle the weight, and provide reasonable gas mileage?

My 99 V10 With 3.73's manual towed 16k for serveral years with it. Pushed it beyond what it was made for going up the hills in Pa would have it on the floor in 3rd gear at 4,000 rpms for 1/2 an hour and it never missed a beat. This was the old 2v v10. I did run synthetic in it from 1,000 miles up. Averaged 11.5 mpg and 7 towing. At first being a Chevy person I did not like the V10 but after towing with it, the motor proved to be very good. The new V10 would be in heaven towing 11k with 4.30 gears. would probably average 7 auto and 8 manual.

Congrats Tom. I had followed your thread but had never commented because had nothing to add to what had already been said.

My experience is I went from diesel to gasser and after about a year and half had to get back in a diesel. Missed the seat of pants torque and the sound of the turbo's spooling up. The 6.4 in too quiet IMHO. But still is better than gasser in my book. Good luck on what ever you decide.

NO, Supposedly Ford Cannot resell a vehicle that they buy back, however, Ford, Dodge, and Chevy all got in trouble a few years ago for doing just that.

No true. They definately resell trucks they buy back. My 2006 F350 was bought back by Ford and three months later I get a call from a guy wanting to know the history about it. He got a great deal. It was a $48K truck I got for $40K. They replaced the motor and gave him a full new warranty for $26K. Heck I would have kept the truck if they had offered me half that.

They do sell these after they are bought back. The title is marked RAV Buyback and a COPY of the title is given to the dealer that buys the truck at auction. when that dealer sells to the customer, Ford will release the actual title directly to the customer with an explanation that the vehicle was a buy back. The intent is to prevent dealers trying to sell the truck at regular price without the consumer knowing the history. This doesnt mean that the manufacturer cant do something themselves but I have seen plenty of RAV titles at auctions so the process is working, at least to some extent anyway.

I think this guy went through way too much given the history of the DPF problems. I'm sure there are lots of people that jus gave up. This is what they are hoping for. I am a very happy V10 owner. I am happy with my truck from bumper to pumper.

I am almost 100% sure it will be a V10 with 430 gears auto trans Crew Cab Single Wheel Lariet dark stone as loaded as you can get.

Not sure if I can take this Dpf stuff again. Thanks EPA for ending a great run
hate to say it but the ford PSD is doomed. I am just scared that my DPF failed at about 12K how many more time would it fail? Tomany rules with this new 6.4 can't Idle, can't run bio, can't drive it on short trips. can't remove DPF. can't cant cant My old 7.3 would run on anything and do any thing you need it to do.

V10 gaser here I come! I will put a nice flow master exhaust and a good programmer and get the same fuel milage as the 6.4 with as much power
and cheaper maint. costs.
