Congrats Tom,
I think after your many trials and tribulations there is no way you would get another lemon but then again I am a gambler. Look at your needs and go with what will serve you best. I am sad to hear that you had to go through HELL with FMC but what else did you expect. Good Luck with your next purchase.

Tom...Nice job!!

If you're like the rest of us and a long term diesel owner you'll have a hard time going back to gas. There's nothing like the sound of a diesel and the torque that goes with it! Good luck either way.

Are they allowed to sell buy backs like that? I don't think they should be, already knowing that the vehicle is a lemon they will just give themselves more warranty headaches

Always felt bad that you had such bad luck. If I were in your shoes, if you are not going to tow heavy a lot, I would go with the V10. Ford built the 6.4 to tow heavy and it does a great job at it. What do you plan to tow in the near future?

I spend most of my time in the 7.3 section but periodically poke around here to see whats happening with the new motor/truck. I have been following the progress of your now closed thread.

I'm glad to see Ford is doing right by the customer. Although, in these times of finaciall trouble it appears Ford is going to push each case to the limit before giving in. Good luck with the new truck. Post a thread letting us know which direction you go (V10 or Diesel).

I don't really need the diesel but I like the torque and power band. I pull a tractor a few times a year but only about 8000 pounds. I drive my truck like a sports car and I drive a lot!!!! 20K almost on this 08 bought in Aug. I do mix driving highway and city.
I am leaning toward the V10 with 430 gears auto. why 430's because I intend to buy
bigger tires in the near future.
I was told that the V10 with exhaust, air filter, and programer will get 14+ MPG! hoping with the gears and after market items I will have the same kind of light to light power I like. I know it is not a mustang but I like Super Dutys!!!!

The new 3v with 4.3s would own that tractor and trailer, dono about 14+ mpg's with 4.3 gears, it depends a lot on what type of driving.

The nice thing about the v10 is that its a v10, it makes a lot of low end torque. we beat the piss out of our older 2v V10 and they can take just about any thing you throw at them.

The 6.4 sounds sweet to though, you just cant go wrong with twin turbos.
There both great motors you cant go wrong either way.

My 99 V10 With 3.73's manual towed 16k for serveral years with it. Pushed it beyond what it was made for going up the hills in Pa would have it on the floor in 3rd gear at 4,000 rpms for 1/2 an hour and it never missed a beat. This was the old 2v v10. I did run synthetic in it from 1,000 miles up. Averaged 11.5 mpg and 7 towing. At first being a Chevy person I did not like the V10 but after towing with it, the motor proved to be very good.

I am going to be close to the deadline for 08's may drag my feet and get an 09!
I wounder what changes? price? I have 45 days to order a truck I think that will put me in to 09 if I wait the whole 45 days.

I wish I could find a V10 so I could drive it and see if it has the mid range power I like
Right now I am looking a 350 CC lariet V 10 completely loaded with everything on the list
That is the only way I can get the MSRP to be close to my old truck
I wish I could get rebates with this new truck but I don't think they will let me.

The V-10 is an excellent motor and with tuner (mainly for tranny) it will run very sporty. It is also a towing beast when you need it. I have put almost 300k miles on the V-10 and never had a single problem. That is on 2 different trucks.

I saw an 08 ford on the side of the interstate for almost a month with "I bought this lemon at Don Shetler Ford" in shoe polish on the back glass. Then one day teh truck was gone. Come to find out It belonged to someone I knew years back and they gave him a new one. He was having alot of the same problems you were.

NO! I don't believe it lol. another one having problems?
I can recall months ago when I was called a troll for "making this up"
maybe just maybe there was a few trucks that had many problems.
FORD STILL MAKES THE BEST!! But Ford had stumbled when this new truck came out. Like I have said before Ford rushes to get the trucks out and lets the warranty take care of it once out. They don't really care that it has aged me 10 years lol.

Makes Ford just like Microsoft! LOL

Seriously Tom, Good Job on sticking to it. I think the whole idea was to grind you down till you just gave up. There's a lesson here for all of us. It would be really neat if you could get a picture of your "old" 08 sitting next to your new truck for us to drool over.
