wellman, sounds like your downpipe is up against the transmission

at idle the single masses are quieter than the dual mass since they dont have all the garbage spinnin round

the only noise i have is the gear rollover at lower rpm's

Great suggestion Jake, I'll get under there tomorrow and bang around, I hope it's something stupid like that. I've got a lot more noise than a little rattlin, that's for sure. My main worry now is the clutch smell. If I use the clutch pedal any, (slow crawl starts/2nd gear starts/start on slight incline) other than a "dump and go" start, it stinks like hell. I mean, that clutch/brake/burn stink that cannot be mistaken. Pedal feels soft and good, shifts like a dream, I have a new Ford slave/master/tubing kit, i'm stumped. Thanks for your ideas, later Jay

Hey, and bareback, I was up thru your town when I picked up a car in Arlington, then stopped at Valair for my parts, A few weeks ago Friday night it was. I passed that sale barn on 281 past the Hard8, and good God you'd have thought it was the PRCA finals, I never seen so many horse trailers in one parking lot. Must've been a special show, or sale huh? Anyway, it sure is pretty up that way. Take care

WellMan, Have ya talked to Dan at Valaire about that burnt clutch smell? That smell of a burnt clutch in my expreience should should have gone after the first day if not the first hour of use of a new clutch and fly wheel ,in any case Dan at Valaire sure did like to talk about clucthes and things might be worth the chat........

Thanks for the replies, I did call after a day or two of driving and talked to Kevin. We were mainly talking about the noise in my rig, and he said as long as it was only in neutral, and only while idling, it wasn't indicating a problem with the install. Towards the end of the call, I described the smell as in my earlier post, and I believe he said that it's unusual, should or shoud've gone away by now, etc. He also said that I'm just a "putter" and not really hittin hard like the PMS boys, may take longer to break in?
BTW, I think it was ftowelding that told me about the pilot shaft sleeve repair kits, well my rig needed one, the mechanic had never used one, but said it was beefy and he liked it, went in well, etc. I wonder could that make it behave any different as to the sound or extended smell.
We'll see, off to the fields, have a good day, Jay
