How ironic is that? We've got one of the proverbial V8 zombies bashing a rhetorical (I hope) off hand comment made by a forum member that could arguably be considered the original V8 zombie.

yeah dude, uh, i was joking. lighten up. i was just making my point that changing gearing isnt going to affect the acceleration of a 300 as much as it would to other cars with a peakier torque curve. thats all.

i think its pretty ironic, but i didnt know he was a "V8 zombie"

yes, i was not being serious at all and i was just kidding around.

also, theres no need to break out the Z word. no one is talking about v8s, and no one is bashing the 300. what exactly are the pre requisites for being a V8 zombie, anyway? blindly believing that any V8 is better than an I6? Having no faith in the old 300?

what if i just dont blindly believe than the 300 is gods gift to man?

That comment was based on my observation that he spends most of his time in the 370/429/460 part of the site and he lists no 300 in a vehicle in his sig. It was also in jest.

No im not a V-8 zombie.Ive owned five 300I6 in my life 4 in trucks and two in homemade power units.I think they are a great engine as far as reliability and they are tough. But unlike some of you i dont think you can throw one in a funny car and go run NHRA or pull the old 3406 Cat out of the Peterbilt and pull more with the big 300 cause "its got low end torque".See i can make jokes too.No i really do love the 300 but some times the bs gets a little carried away. All in good fun guys if you got any 460 jokes let me have em.

The 460 can be it's own joke and doesn't need any others made about it.

I still don't understand why anyone would go to a forum and bash the subject of the forum, especially when the statement you choose to bash was taken as a joke by everyone else.

6cylbill-Truly a man after my own heart! Any numbers below 18 are impressive for a six. And the 300cid ford, in my opinion, is yet to be rivaled! Currently building one for a 1970 F250 4X4. It will be a high perf. engine but I just have a love affair with the ford 6!

Stating fact is not bashing. And yes i know towing 15,000 was a joke it would have to be.You really need a 460 for that.

I've towed 11k with mine and it didn't struggle with it. Stopping was a different matter and I would not choose to do it again. A 460 might do it faster and while burning more fuel, but I don't think it's necessary. I'm guessing your 460 could easily go 0-60 in 15 seconds while towing 15k lbs since it is obviously the most amazing mechanical device ever devised by man?

Yes a 460 is a beautiful polluter! LOL But the six is one torque filled mill that wont back down when it comes to pulling! Horsepower makes your speed, torque does your pulling, so while the 460 will fly, the 300 WILL pull! And, with a few modifications, has the ability to embarass the hell out of some 460 owners!

You pulled 11k once wow.You just aint gonna get it are you.I guess you didnt read where i said i loved the 300 im not bashing anything made by Ford, except maybe the early 99 powerstroke. But anyway when you get into serious weight 15,000 and over on a daily basis for alot of miles the 300 just dont cut it.You can talk all day til your blue in the face your not gonna prove me wrong.Hell i could pull 11k with a car 1 time.I was pulling 45" trailers with 300 bales of hay when i was 11.I pulled a 6200LB trailer with either a 580 Super L 4wd Case backhoe [right around 18k] or an 860 Case trencher/bh right around 15.5k or a Ditch Witch Directional drill with a 500 gal water tank {right around 15k}at least 120 miles a day, every day for 7 years. With a 460 Ford and a Ps Ford.Ive got a 15k camper that ive pulled all over this country working all with a 460 Ford.Ive also pulled a 3500lb Case trencher on a lightweight 14' car trailer behind a 300I6 alot,it had trouble handling it on a daily basis.Anything can be done once.Just dont try to tell me i dont know what im talking about when it comes to pulling stuff.
