AC doesn't turn on at highway speed

My A/C has started not engaging at highway speed when I turn the switch on. If I turn it on at a stop or low speed it works fine and continues to when I speed up. Anyone else have this problem?

Looks like the first of many threads of this season for the same thing.

Clutch gap is too large, remove a shim.

I'm a rookie to working on A/C units. Is that something that should be done under warranty or a fix a shade tree mechanic can do?

If it's under warranty have the dealer handle it. That's what a warranty is for.
