bolt needed

Any '48 -'52 truck owners out there have an extra stock rear bumper bolt laying around that they do not need ? Am in need of one for the stock '52 build under const. The bolt is a mushroom head (2 1/8 " dia . head ) , has a 9/16 sq. shoulder under the head (3/16 deep ) and the bolt is 1 1/2 " long Thanks ,Denny

Hi Denny,

I don't have a spare, as a matter of fact I'm short one too - C&G was out of them on my last trip. I'm running up there this weekend, if you can't get one from someone, let me know and I'll pick ya up one and send it to ya.

bumper bolt

Dan thanks for the reply concerning the bolt . Have not co\me across one yet . Will be at the Super Nat's ,Knoxville in May . If I do not find one there ( which I would imagine one will be in the swap area somewhere ) please send C&G contact info if you do not have one by then . Let me know if you need any elusive item .Will have the heater boots there for some more exposure .Seems we have something in common "51 or '52 Ford trucks & fine woodworking .I don't even waste the effort of pressing the loud pedal on the 1ST-RIDE ( custom '52 w/ BBFord ,C-6 ,& 9" )rear when comfronted by those rice burners .Mine is ALL motor ,Thanks again , Denny

Just curious but can't you use a carrage bolt. That sounds like what you are describing and you can probably get one at your local hardware store. Just a thought.

Hey Denny!

HEY You're Magic Aire rubber heater boot Denny. Shoot I hadn't put to and two together on that until now! I figured you'd be a very wealthy man by now being the only guy making those boots! C&G has stores in a couple places. Here is the link for the one here. There may be one closer to you. If you don't find the bolt in May, you can just order one from them (or probably LMC or MACs a well) and they'll send it right to ya. I Think they have chrome or stainless steel, which the hardware stores normally don't carry in that size (checked, but thanks anyway thendrix - hard to find a decent hardware store out here anymore)

Anyway, here is the link. I might call them about selling the boots too! Does anyone here know you've got those things?

bolt & heater boots

Dan ,if the wealth from the heater boots had come in mass I wouldn't be on here looking for a bolt .Just joking !Word is spreading slowly on the boots .Will be at the Super Nats under a red e-zup w/ a sign saying HEATER BOOTS .All FTE members stop by & say Hi .Have sold some to a few fellow early Ford truck owners and Have promise for the other round end style style from 4 other guys . Those are so close to making I can smell it . Will be at my buddy's this week to make the 2 pc. outside Carbon Fiber mold .Then pour , pour, pour. While I am there we are to talk over the similiar process to make the e-brake cable boots .Had the 1SR-RIDE out of the garage and fired up last nite .BB -Ford (428 ) ,C-6 ,9" This truck is border line art . I think I've created a monster !All that is left is to bolt on the front fenders ( they are painted & ready) & hang the completed doors . I know I've been telling alot of FTE users pics will be coming soon . So when all the ext .body panels are on I WILL take some pis and post them .Have worked on this beautiful truck for more than 1 yr. but less than 10 yrs . It is really nice .This truck was purchased from the Ford plant in Minn .on Nov . 11 1951 by my Grandfather .I first drove this truck around his lumber mill in N. Wi. when I was 14 .Thus the very first vehicle I drove and owned .I purchased it from my Grandpa in 1968 when I was 16 for $50.00 .He could have given it to me but that was not the point .Have nearly 30K in it now .Alot of chrome , stainless , & detail .This truck has been a labor of love and is willed to my daughter .So it will be from her great grandpa. Dan , my email address is koda06@bellsout h.net .Email me with your address .I would like to send you some pics of a heirloom chest of drawers I made for my daughter .I think you would appreciate this kind of woodworking craftsmanship . A note to thendrix ,this type of bolt is not your ordinary type of carriage bolt .Besides I am a purist who had to make an exact reproduction heater boot with all the cast marks in the correct places .

E-mail is on th eway with the address. I'd love to see some of your work. I'm going up to C&G tomorrow and hoestly it will cost me more to drive up again than to just buy the bolt. So, I'll get two and if you don't find one I'll send the spare!

It's kind of a pain when you are working with fine wood one week and truck welding, grease and paint the next, huh?

(Bill you just bust me up)
