Another stock 7.3 measurement please, front driveshaft length
This one may get you a little dirty...
I'm looking for the measurement of a stock front driveshaft on a non lifted Excursion 7.3 PSD. The measurement should be when the X is sitting at rest on all four wheels, and be taken from the center point (axis) of the front U-joint to the flange of the rear double cv that mates against the transfer case. It should be taken from the center of the side to get an accurate length.
If anybody is doing work where the weight is on the wheels and can take this measurement it would be greatly appreciated. Also, let me know what year you have (mine is an 01).
Now, the reason is that my driveshaft is too long ever since I reindexed my transfer case. I have a few variables here including the lift, the forward indexing of my front leaf pins, the reindexing of the transfer, and the thickness of the reindexing ring. I'm wonding how much off a stock driveshaft would be before I drop the change on having a new one built. I can get a good used stock one for $150, if it fits correctly, and it will be plenty strong for my requirements.
Thanks in advace!
