Engine stalls

I have a 2006 Escape with a 4 cyl. It starts fine but dies when you put it into reverse or drive. I've already replaced the fuel filter. Any other ideas would be appreciated.

I heard of this on another Ford vehicle which was caused by a slight pinhole in the air intake tube. I would check for loose connections, etc.

Also saw an escape which missed only in reverse, which was caused by a defective connector pin on one of the wires in the main wiring harness.

Idle Air Control Valve? That's what mine was when it kept starting & stalling on the 1st start of the day at about 60,000 miles (01 Escape - 6 cyl.)
