4.0 cam synchronizer

Hey every one! Looking for a little help here. I'm changing out my 4.0 in my 1999 ranger, with a lower mileage one. I had to swap the cam sensor to match the wire harness. The problem is I never looked at the location of the old one before pulling it out. I bought the tool to reset it an otc 6483 and have a haynes manual. But the I'm not sure I have the sensor set right, the markings on the housing where the hold down clamp is (from the old engine) are in a differant spot if I set it at approx 60 degrees off the center line. I hate to put the engine back in and not have it set right. Any help would be great. Alan
