If you can get the hardware for the tailgate, A repro. might be available , not quite as heavy as original and doesnt say ford on it. My bro just replaced his for 140$ but for a 79Looks pretty good. I would think an 80's tailgate would be available.

I think you would need the old hardware and it would bolt into place of the new stuff but I could be wrong, need to search, I'm too tired to search right now
