Yep, on the 4x4 you need to use the hex key.

I have an 03' 6.0 4x4 and I'm getting ready to change out both fuel filters. I picked up the HFCM water seperator drain plug upgrade. The one you can hand tighten. Is there enough room to back out the factory plug completely with that drive axle right there? And also reinstall the upgrade?
