Ranshero gas tank?

I have a '62 RANCHERO. There is a panel under the rear window in the bed that is an access for the upper shock bolt.Has anyone put a gas tank in this area if so what works.I seen a picture of a ROUND BODY RANCHERO that had a fuel door that looked like it was off of a RANGER. It was in the side of the bed behind the drivers door.Where they put a RANGER fuel door.Thanks for any and all help Ken N.
