diesel fuel in my coolant overflow!
well, i've got diesel fuel coming out of my overflow tank. first suggestions were a blown head gasket, but i had a friend suggest the injector cup in the head, as that's the only way that much fuel would make it into the coolant. oil looks clean on the dipstick, but could have water in it, would have to drain to find out. if it is the injector cup, what's involved with replacing it? also, other symptoms are excess white smoke at cold starts, and the engine runs cooler in the range than normal.

Welcome to FTE Steve. Maybe try asking your question down in the 7.3 section. Here's a link 1999 - 2003 7.3L Power Stroke Diesel - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums
My guess is injector cups.

more info on the truck
2002 F250 7.3L PSD, bone stock, 119000 miles. Seems a bit early for a head gasket, eh? The truck has never overheated. First started noticing the "leak" a couple of weeks ago - diesel in the front of the passenger side of the engine compartment, wet all around the battery. Took a few looks to figure out it was coming out of the coolant reservoir when it was hot. Just figured that out yesterday. As far as the smoke goes at startup, it's more than what should be there, as I've had another 2002 PSD as a work truck in the past, and it didn't smoke like this one. Now, I just read in my Chilton's manual that the fuel heater (under the fuel filter) doesn't kick on without the truck in neutral and the parking brake depressed. My parking brake cable snapped a couple of months back, so I haven't been using it. Anyone know if that's true about the fuel heater not kicking on without having the parking brake engaged? That would explain the white smoke.
