Carb choice

I've got a 460 to put in my 61 unibody. It will be mostly stock D1VE block,D3VE heads, Stock CI manifold, headers,3" exhaust. I have an Edelbrock 1405 (600cfm) on the 302 thats in it now. Yesterday I scored a Holley 650 DP list #4777 manual choke, mech sec. I want it to be a driver and have been pleased with the Edelbrock. The Holleys I've had in the past required tinkering alot. I'm older and lazier now but like to smoke the tires once in a while. Which carb would you guys recommend.

If it's basically stock, I'd try the edelbrock you have now. They offer a tuning kit with various metering rods and jets to get it tuned correctly for the 460. My 302 2 barrel can "smoke the tires" so I'm sure the 460 won't have a problem regardless.

DPs belong on race only applications an work poorly on street engines. As much as it pains me to say this, use the Edelbrock. Damn, that's hurts a Holley guru to say that.

LOL Bear

He is right though the DP carb is more of a strip type of carb, you can run them on the street but unless your planning on a lot of 5000+rpm that 600 edelbrok will work just fine and probably get you better economy (for what thats worth with a 460) and honestly on the low end it's going to give you more torque up to around 3000.
