Wiring Suggestions...
I bought a trailer the other week. Its a tri axle, and the marker lights do not work, not 100 percent sure about the electric brakes, and the right side stop/signal doesnt work.
The trailer has a car battery mounted on it which kinda stumps me. Also when I ripped the old trailer plug off, to install a new one, there was a few wires that werent in the "correct" place in relation to where the plug instructions said to put them.
Heres the wiring that came with the new 7 prong plug
1. white - common ground to terminal 1
2. blue - electric brakes to terminal 2
3. green - light to terminal 3
4. black - battery charge to terminal 4
5. red - stop and left turn signal to terminal 5
6. brown - stop and right turn signal to terminal 6
7. yellow - auxillary ground or auxillary circuit to terminal 7
Heres where the wires were on the current trailer plug.
White wire - terminal 1 (correct)
blue wire - terminal 2 (correct)
green wire - terminal 6 (incorrect)
black wire - terminal 4 (correct)
Red wire - terminal 7 center terminal (unhooked)
Looks like this is the wire that was rerouted to the battery
brown wire - terminal 3 (incorrect)
yellow wire - terminal 5 (incorrect)
Do you think I should just go and hook up the wire to the plug where the instructions say to?
Instead of just trying that should I go rip apart all the wiring and trace the wires to be 100percent sure?
Right now the rest of the wiring is kind of hidden, and it will be quite abit more work to get at it. I was just hoping to figure out the plug first then if need be, tackle some more.
Any tips, hints or advice would be appreciated

Is the trailer a "travel" trailer or what? Actually, it doesn't matter because you REALLY have no idea what wires go where right now. I'd see if that battery is good, then use it (or a multi-meter) to wring out the existing wires. Run the ground wire and then use either the meter or the battery to test the other connections. Personally, I'd use the meter so if something is wrong you don't burn up a wire.
This should help too: Scroll down the page and you'll see the CORRECT color coding for each one.

The 12v battery is to power up the electric brakes if the trailer was to be seperated from the TV via the break-away switch.
The reply above is good advice.
1st - check your ground connection. If nothing is working that is the first place to start. clean the wire and the mating surface with steel wool, sandpaper, etc.
2nd - check & clean all the light bulbs & contacts. The connections here are usually pretty cheesy.
3rd - make sure the connectors on the TV and the trailer are clean.
4th - start checking individual circuits via the reply above. There shouldn't be a need to rip out all of the old wiring unless it is damaged.

It sounds to me like you have mixed the standard color code & the RV color codes together. Here are the 2 codes:
RV colors
1 ground- white
2 Elec. Brakes- Blue
3 Tail lights- Green
4 Positive (hot all the time)- Black
5 Left turn - Red
6 Right turn- Brown
7 Aux. - Yellow
Those are the colors as marked ON THE CONNECTOR
Standard WIRE color code:
Left turn- Yellow (ford uses green& orange)
Right turn_ Green (ford uses Orange& blue)
Tail - Brown
I have found that it is best to disregaurd the color codes on THE PLUG, it just confuses you. Greg
