hi all, as the title says, we just bought a 2008 ford escape last night. my wife Heather has always wanted her own truck. we really liked the older explorers(mid 90's-2000) but they have in recent years got a bit too large for our needs,so the escape seemed to be a good choice for us. my wife and i have talked to ford salesmen,mechanics,parts salesmen,and owners of escapes a lot in the last 5 months.we have heard good things about these little suv's. its a nice little truck.my wife can't beleive its really hers! now the personalizing will begin.

right on, we just grabbed an 08 also. limited, v6, 4by. we like ours but hopefully the gas mileage goes up. 21-22 highway.here's some pics.

the limited is really nice,i would have got the v6 4x4 too,but it was bought for my wife,so she did not want the 4x4 or bigger engine.she picked this little guy out of the others on the lot.she has been driving a 1 litre 3 cylinder firefly, it was her first car. for her this is a big step up. its her first NEW vehicle,its bigger,and its her truck.she told me if she needs a 4x4 ,shes taking my work truck,its a 2001 ranger super cab 4x4. so i guess i got told the way its going to be -lol now she's out driving it everywhere,she's so proud of her new truck,now she understands my love for vehicles.i tried to post a picture,but i could not remember how to add them to my galley page.

It looks like they improved the dash design quite a bit.
That's what I was going to say. My wife has wanted an Escape (and hopefully she doesn't mean from me) since the trucklette came out. I guess we ought to go look at them since the Escort is ten years old and we have had it since it was new! That redfire and charcoal interior is what she was looking for also.

That would be the six speed autobox.
Nobody else will have a six speed in that class of SUV.
another first for ford. gotta keep ahead of the pack.

i will post the mileage as soon as we figure it out. it has only used slightly less than a half tank to go 256 kilometres so far. im sure it should get a bit better as the drivetrain gets broke in. so i will let you know. i did notice it had a suprising amount of pep for a tiny engine. Heather said today that her favorite part is when she hits the power door lock to get in the truck.she fells safe, because she doesn't have to fumble with her keys before getting in. she has not used the key pad for the keyless entery yet,she has to memorize the code. the 09 model 6 speed will be great,but im not sure if it will be avalible in the xlt model,or only avalible on the limited model.i just posted a picture in my gallery page ,its titled heathers truck,if anyone is interested in looking.

I think that they said on Blue Oval News that it will be across the board change over. But then I am a "Doubting Thomas" and expect it to migrate into the lower line models after start up of the 09 year.
