it's normal. the ECM energizes the GPR for up to 90 sec depending on intake temp.

I hate to be the stickler, but I'm sure somewhere in your reading on how to (and why) put an led to know when the glow plugs are energized, you would have read the answer to your question. We have all asked (what others think of as silly) questions that are easily found with a quick search of this forum.
I see you are new here, so ill be easy on you.... But being that you have purchased a diesel, I would say your first step in diesel ownership would be to make reading this forum your hobby for a few months before altering anything else on your truck.
Don't stop asking questions, but in this forum there is a lot to read about most every topic you can imagine.

Very Handy Modification

I installed this modification a couple of years ago when troubleshooting an intermittent start problem. I was able to isolate the problem to the relay using the LED to tell what was happening.

I put a quick connector in-line in the engine compartment so I can easily hook the indicator up to another circuit if I want to. This is a handy troubleshooting tool.

I am having intermittent glow plug circuit problems again, probably from the NAPA GPR that I installed. I am always able to get it to kick in, but sometimes it takes a few tries. If I didn't have the LED, I'd never know it was happening, except for the hard start!

Kudos to WMRiceman!

Thank you for the excellent write-up.

Pretty straight forward project. I ran two wire all the way to the relay. I put the negative on the metal bracket that mounts the relay to the engine.
