I compared my last report from Blackstone to yours. I was running Rotella T 15-40 and mine ran fairly close to yours. You did have about 700 more miles on the oil than I did. In my opinion Caterpillar didn't seem to be as through as Blackstone.

I think you mentioned that Blackstone is also doing an analysis on your oil, hopefully it will be from the same oil change, if it is then you will really have a basis for comparison.

Let us know how the two compare, I for one will be very interested.

I know that Caterpillar does not do as good a job as Blackstone does. Just a little cheaper and I wanted to get a analysis back quickly. Also then I can do a comparison of CAT and Blackstone.

Ordered the Blackstone kit a while back, should be here the end of this week.
I saved about 500 mL from the same oil change so that I can do a comparison.

Will definitely let you know the results Rog.

2/5/07 225K.
That has to be when you lost the turbo?
I had about the same iron spike. I rebuilt the turbo then all was good on the next stone report.

yep thats the one!! I was expecting worse so I was a little relieved when it came back like that. The AL was the base plate and the FE was the thrust bearing grinding away. Hoping the Schaeffers helps my higher than average FE trend.

My Alum was good. Base plate fine. Had a spike in copper with the iron.
Iron-83 and copper-152. Yikes!!! 12K on oil.
Had to be turbo shaft and bearings. All though to the eye/feel all was good.

Waljon,

Ask for Oil Analysis Kit from Toromont CAT in TBay. Give you a black plastic container with info sheet and clear plastic bottle inside.

Black plastic bottle should have "Toromont CAT" on outside and mailing address and postage paid.

Cost was $18 and some cents. Took about 2 weeks to get data back.

With Blackstone if you already have the sample kit it takes about 5 days after I sent them out to get the report via email. I think going "postal" it only take my samples 2 days to get there so that will vary.
