255 75 17 Tires

I know a lot of people like to put wider tires on there rigs. I was looking for a better ON/OFF road tire and found 255/75 17 BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain T/A for about $98 each. I'm not going to do much off roading but I would like better traction if I do, or in the snow next year. Is there a reason I should go with a wider tire? The tire is about 32.6 inches

Narrow tires work better in snow than wide tires.

The narrow tires will be good for the snow, and they'll be taller than stock ones. I think they'll look pretty good, and for that price I'd get them.

Tirerack.com has two types. I think one is a typo or a newer style. ones $98 and ones around $122

I have another question, If I was to buy the tires now and now use them till next fall, would they stay good or would I need to store them a specific way? I want to wear out my current tires first.
