T walls ar 10' high, 5' wide, and weigh in at about 5 tons. Texas barriers are 7' high, 7'wide, and weigh in at about 4 tons. Then you got the standard Jersy barriers at 3' high, 8' long, and I think 2-3 tons. All make effective barriers against bombers. The Hesco barriers are cool too- they are basically big steel mesh (3" square) that come in different sizes. You unfold them, stand them up, and fill them with dirt or sand. Great protection, and cheap to ship, although all our barriers here are bought locally made.

Ah, not sure if they were widely using those big old cement barriers when Chris was there back in 04-05. The place he was hadn't changed to a hard base. But of course, I've not been privy to every detail.

I often wonder why he likes to camp since he spent a year in a tent...

I saw them when I was there in 04. I am guessing it just depended on the base. Some of the places I stayed had them, some didnt. But the best places to stay... We couldnt even see a base, let alone a t wall.

In Sand Dog they used plastic ones filled with water.

Since water is not compressable it seemed like a good idea...

Unless the enemy has a little patience. Shoot a hole in the bottom, then sit back and wait for the wall to come down.

Them T walls sound a lot better than filling sand bags.

To hell with filling sand bags!!! Especially in the city where there ain't much sand. The first place I was at, COP (combat out post) Gannon, was all Hesco, and we had it real good there. However here at the Ramadi Gov't Center, we live in a/c buildings, porcelain crappers, and nice bright tile showers. Still gotta take Navy showers though...

I would also be curious as to what Navy showers are.

Mudd460 is starting off with a positive reputation.
Because fresh water has to be made, you need to conserve fresh water out at sea expecially on the smaller ships with less storage capacity. In the shower, you get wet, turn the water off, soap up, turn the water on and quickly rince, turn the water off and your done. A shower taken using a continous water flow is called a "Hollywood Shower" and it's not good for those caught taking a Hollywood.

Hey Chief- would you agree that one of the worse things to happen, is to lose / break a shower shoe and have your bare foot touch the shower stall floor LOL??

That, or worse, have your pee-pee touch the shower curtain!

Not germs so much, if you have been out at sea for an extended period, there may be other "biological substances" loose in the shower area...
