Hey Bro I hear ya. As far as the pay thing, I know the State Dept contractors are getting that $$$, often for not doing much LOLand BW is doing 4 on 4 off (at least on the groundside). I got 4+ years left and not sure what I wanna do when I get out, but doing a years worth of work to wipe out almost all my debt is definitely enticing. I'm actually with a BTT right now in Al Anbar. Either way, be safe out there man!!

77&79F250 is starting off with a positive reputation.
I would definitaly hang in there and RETIRE that way you have options like work for a year, take a year off. lol

After 20 yrs being gone from home, take a bit of time off, anything more than 30 starts to feel weird.

Sign up for a year, get the cash, get debt free, taks 6 months off, do it again. I'm on my second year tour in Afghanistan.

Not debt free, bought a house after first tour, but all my trucks are payed off.

Stay safe, R

I'd love to read it to my daughter, but I'm about 15,000 miles away... hope to be home in about 2 months!

I guess you could say it's going by fast- looking back we've accomplished a lot, but with 2 months still to go, who knows what could happen??? I do hope it goes fast though, I miss my family and have some catching up to do!

I hear ya! Here's to a safe ending! Both mine went so much faster than I thought they would, it surprised me. Seemed like before I knew it, I was back.

Anyone ever have flashbacks to bootcamp? I know I do....

Going downtown in San Diego to get together and be sworn in, the physical (there was a proctologist I could swear was an eighty year old arkansas mountain woman that we had to agree to a waiver to so she could look at our naked backsides), and getting put up in a hotel at military expense the last night because the plane was not happening that night. It was CO-ED.

The party in the hot tub at the hotel, with no swim suits.... (Nakedness is cool!) We were specifically instructed to pack a limited number of things.

A long plane flight out of San Diego, and landing in Chicago - waiting for the bus. I remember watching out of the window as San Diego went away.... I fell asleep on that damned bus.

The long bus ride, and walking out of it expecting something out of an old movie to happen when we did.

It was pouring down rain in Great Lakes when we got there. A bunch of pitiful longhairs...

SECURITY at Great Lakes.

And the final warning:

If you have brought anything stupid with you or LIED about drug abuse - THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE!

And then .......

The gates closed behind us.

WE WERE THERE

*I think that's where I lost one of my favorite knives. It was a Double Eagle. I never got it back! PIRATES!!!

Probably went to the guards at the gate you passed thru. At least that was what we did when I had guard duty in the 60's.

When I went through down at Ft. Jackson they had these amnesty boxes with big locks on um. They were like this is your chance to get rid of any contraban before we catch you with it etc.

BINGO!

But I just found me another'n on E-BAY.

NOW MY LIFE IS COMPLETE

(the picture is real grainy)

These are not made anymore as far as I know, but it's a sweet gentlemans folder that you rarely see or hear of

The blades were stainless 'A', and this one is older than I am - I bet it flips with a twitch!
