Lot of folks in line at Selfridge use Ipods while they wait.

I beg to differ Greg, it does indeed rain there, albeit not very often, and usually accompanied by a sand storm, which pretty much means it's raining mud....

As long as you're setting the record straight Danny, I think all the troops that aren't in Iraq want that too. If you were just talking about a pool I'm sure you could have found a picture without all the teenage girls Greg.
Everything I've heard about Iraq tells me the air would suck the water out of that in about two days...
Heck of an idea for a care package though!!!
Put it in a big enough tent, and the sand would stay out of it.
- I figure if they can spend millions in Bahrain to build a SKI SLOPE, why not be typically AMERICAN and send an above ground pool?
Barbeque some camel, have a couple of cold ones that were stored in a conex box during the Korea conflict, and take a dip in the division soaker.... Why not? It's amazing the little things that make a big difference.
*STEEL BEACH picnics on carrier flight decks ALWAYS include salt water filled (from the nearest firemain) inflatable pools brought aboard by forward thinking troops...

I will say that it does rain buckets in Iraq. It a lot like rain in Texas though. It will come down hard and heavy for about 10 minutes or slow and steady for a week. I was at a Camp south of Baghdad last year that I called Chocholate Pudding. It rained for about 2 weeks, and the whole camp looked like pudding.
A little about me I guess is in order. Im Steve, from the Dallas area originally. Been active duty for 6 yeaars. OIF2 Feb04-Feb05 OIF06-08, Oct06-Jan08, currently OEF April08-whenever.
As far as the pool goes, most of the bigger camps in Iraq have a pool. Most of the smaller camp have inventive troops.
