TorqueKing, as the name implies, what kind of torque numbers do you think you are getting from your engine? I know you have the Winsor Jr's, what other mods have you done to your truck? I am debating swapping out my 302 in favor of a 351 (for the torque) or just build up the 302 with heads, intake, and exhaust. Mine's fuel injection though.

I'll have to catch up on your threads, as I am leaning toward the Windsor Jr.'s myself. Sounds like less hassel and more performance from others I've solicited. Also looking into some of the CNC Powerheads, if anyone has any experience with this or similar....www.powerheads.com.

Well to add alittle info for you all the plugs for the gt40p are autolight 103's. I have a set installed on my f250 and so far I have had no problems. I chose the gt40p's because of the cheap $500.00 cost for high performace heads (cant beat that!!!) and the fact that they are made by ford!

You all need to visit powerheads.com and check out their CNC ported castings. Just a tad more than the GT40P heads but they out flow them by a bit on the intake and a mile on the exhaust. I'm going to put a set on my buddies 95 mustang next weekend. He was also looking at the GT40P heads until I showed hime these and ran both through the desktop dyno.

Could someone enlighten me on this subject please? I as everyone else have noticed the price tag on these heads and thought how they would be the ticket. Keep in mind I have a 351 engine. Then I keep reading that special headers are required and then it hits me I am not paying $200 for a set of headers that in the long run if I decide to upgrade to a new head that they will not work. If you take in acount the $500 for the heads then $200 for the headers then you reach $700 which last time I checked you can get heads which outflow them theoretically for a $100 more. Again I am thinking in terms of using these on a 351 so if anyone has a new perspective on this please fill me in because my goal is only 400hp and these heads in stock form from what I have read should support this in stock form if not dropping off just shy of it. Any thoughts again please fill free to reply.

Powerheads are 695/pr. assembled. I believe that is with the core charge, however. IF....if the numbers don't lie, the flow better, but for my application (4x4), I have not decided if they are too radical (never would say that if it was for my mustang!). One thing on the powerheads is; there was little data available from them when I emailed them directly, and they had no cam suggestion upon request for the truck application (I've wrote them again, regarding all mentioned).
Windsor Jr. heads were reccommended to me, but it looks like World Castings has dropped cast iron heads for 302 completely (I've wrote them regarding).
A couple of questions on the GT40p's...you are the first one I know of to use these heads without getting custom headers, so I'm definitely interested. Assuming yours were new, were the chamber fairly smooth, or "as cast"? Also, I believe you mentioned you were using the shorty spark plugs...just want to make sure. One final question on them, what is the "thermactor passage" for? Jegs states these heads do not have this passage...don't know if thats the smog ports at the rear. If it is, I see a problem, as I have to keep mine legal.
The most important thing is, where do you find assembled GT40p heads for $500? Powerheads price is 695 assembled. I've not seen GT40p heads for less than than $550.

I know that World still makes iron heads for Ford, they make them in both Windsor Jr. as well as Roush 200 configuration. If they quit casting them, then Jeg's or Summit will still have them in stock for quite some time now. Price for either is $800 (pair).

Everyone told me that I had to get special headers so I ordered them. For the heck of it I installed by old headers to see they would fit and they fit fine. The only problem was that I had to but the sparkplug socket on the plug and then turn it with an open ended wrench on some of the plugs. Not that hard and worth not paying the extra cash for the headers. I am not sure if the headman's that I had were just made different or what? I purchased the heads with a roller 350hp block from central coast mustang. They told me that the short block was $1500 and the long block with GT40P was $1995.00. Whether or not they sell the heads for 495 is a question you will have to call them about. The ports were quite smooth and there were no jagged edges.
What they are talking about with the "thermactor" is the crossover tube that runs from the back of the heads. I had Central Coast drill them and they did not charge me any thing with the purchase of the entire engine. The plugs were the same size as any other plug and the only difference was that the threads seated the plug farther into the head.
