My wife called me at work today and said that her 2005 Escape 4cyl. was acting up. The 4x4 light would blink on and off for about a minute or so then it would go out. She said it did this about a week ago also but when she restarted the car it all went away. However there must be something wrong that i need to look into. Do you guys have any ideas what might be the problem? There doesn't seem to be any noises or diffence in drivability when the light comes on. Thanks guys.

 

Your owners manual will tell you what the flashing 4x4 light means. A flashing light has one meaning and a steady light has another. One is an over heating issue and the other means that the 4x4 system is not working at all but I cant remember which one is which. When everything is working right, the only time that you will see the 4x4 light is during start up when all of the lights come on.
