Rebuilding the ol 300

I am thinking about pulling the engine out of my truck, (not cause it needs it, just has some leaky gaskets, and I want to add some more power. The truck is an 88 EFI, which i would like to keep EFI. I would like to add a new cam, and new pistions. i will have the head milled, and probably the block milled and bored over as well. What else can i do as far as performance modifications to this motor? I want to be reliable as heck, (as it is now).

I dont want to sacrifice driveability for power, nor do I want a check engine light. So I was wondering what people are using for parts, etc. What cams are common.

I also heard that 5.0 roller rockers can be used on this motor? any truth to that?

I like the torque that the motor has down low right now, and would like to keep that, or add to it. I am not really concerned with the high RPM range, however it would be nice to add to it if possible.

Harte3 is starting off with a positive reputation.
There is not a lot you can do to modify a computer controlled EFI 300 without causing it to have a mental break down. There is more than enough info on this Forum about this very topic. Settle in for some serious reading and searching.

These guys must like you, Peter. When I made a thread like this asking for specific modifications I was flamed into a pile of ashes. And I see that you have 2K posts, so you're not new either. Ha ha.

Ha ha. I understand. That's what I was doing; I wasn't sure what a Cam would do to a stock motor / other specifics. O_o Anyway have a good Sunday, I'll be off at work!
