My Dad has had this truck socked away in the weeds for years, over beers yesterday we decided to find out if it is as rare as he's been told it is and/or what the Camper Special parts are worth.
It's not for sale at the moment, you guys will get a heads-up if that happens

 

The first Camper Special was offered in 1965 on F100's only. F250 Camper Specials were offered beginning in 1966.

F100 Camper Specials were made thru 1972.

Unfortunately, there's no data on any 1965/72 F100/250's Warranty Plate that ID's it as a Camper Special. Blame FoMoCo for that miscue.

NOTE: AS ORIGINAL: If a Camper Special, the R/L front fender emblem's RED plastic insert ID's it as such. If the insert says: Twin-I-Beam, it's not a Camper Special.

The RED plastic insert on your trucks chrome fender emblem on the drivers side appears to be missing.

gezn2, Unfortunately your dad is letting the ol truck become worthless resting like it is. Moisture coming up from the ground is allowing rust to consume it from underneath. The bright metal probably is the more valuable part that is seen today.

The main reason if found its way back in the pasture is that the front cab supports were rusting out, it had a case of the usual midwestern rust
It certainly isn't improving any with the passage of time

The Camper Special badge is still in place on the passenger side, the drivers side badge curled up and fell out when Dad lit my old Chevy next to it on fire one spring while burning off weeds

It's at the point where he needs to find a more solid body-donor or give in and part it out, I expect discussions to continue for a while

 

The dash bezel has the oil and amp gauges, which came standard equipment only on Camper Specials.

They were optional on all other Custom Cabs and the Ranger.

This truck should be saved, there wasn't a lot of Camper Specials made originally, so there's very few left today.

 

I'm a softy for an old Ford truck in the field on the farm. It needs to stay right where it is.

The only thing wrong with that picture is the burned out hulk next to it! That thing needs to get buried.

 

I don't like to burst any hopes you may have, but here is my perspective as just a truck lover.
Your truck is not rare. Not a dime a dozen for sure, but not rare. It is even possible to add the CS features to a regular truck, and you wouldn't know it didn't come from the factory that way.
It is in terrible shape, and is rusting out. The hood is no good due to the nose rot. The grill is dented and the bed is rusting out with the trash in it. The cab mounts and the floor pans are replaceable, but at significant expense and time.
Anything soft inside is gone, including the dash pad.
About the only value it has is the original hard trim and bezels inside, but they were used in larger Ford trucks into the early '90s, so even they are not rare.
You might get some dollars for the dash gauges and the door trim around the inside, perhaps up to $100.
If the tailgate is not rusted through AT ALL - NO PIN HOLES you might get something for it, maybe $100.

Restoring that truck will take in excess of $25K, not counting labor. That amount assumes all labor is done by the restorer.

Restored, the truck might be worth 10K. Maybe. And, only to someone who wants exactly what has been done to it.

Agreed. That thing's just a rusty hunk of junk. Too bad it was left to die.

However it works out the old girl will be providing some parts for something more solid, there's no point in letting it rust into the ground.....
Enough snow has melted I'm *finally* back at work on a Hauler, that burned out hulk and some other 'treasures' are going to provide me with some pocket money in a few weeks

I am in agreement on a couple points... it is what I consider a rare truck...its what appears to be straight as an arrow except the front bumper...grilles for 66 are being repopped now, as are the underpinnings of the cab...mounts and floorpans...The hood can be fixed...many would toss it, but I think its high time these hoods, rusted up front or not...unless grossly rotted or beat be saved as they arent being repopped.
I have seen very very few 1/2 ton CS trucks which in itself makes it rare. If it does get parted, buzz me, Im more then happy to save an old warrior or at least parts of it...door panels and fenders as well as the t/gate and core support.

hey man... i already called dibs on the tail gate... ehh thats fine... it looks different then my 63 but i dont know what a 63 tail gate looks like since mine dosent have one from the factory[it has a home made tail gate for a 5th wheel]

 

The tailgate will do you know good as a 1963 could either be a regular pickup or unibody. If it is a unibody it has its own unique tailgate. If it has a box that will un-bolt from the frame to be separated from the cab it used the box of the previous body style Ford pickups from 1957-1960. Once again completely different than a 1966. The tailgate will fit from 1964 to 1966 slicks. It will also bolt on to 1967 to 1972 pickups as well but the bodylines are slightly different. I actually have a 1972 tailgate mounted on my 1965 F-100.
