Console or column shifter?

Console or column shifter?
I see all kinds of console shifter pictures in the gallery.... What about a column shifter option? I'm sure it'll be available in the XL model but what about the FX-4 or XLT models? I've got a console of my own to put in a truck.....without being clogged by a shifter and storage box.
What the word? Anyone know?

Column shift should still be available in most if not all models. I know I saw some pics somewhere.
If you didn't know now, the column shift is standard in all the 04-08 models including FX4 and Lariat. The console shift with captains chairs is "optional" in the FX4 and Lariat. Of course console shift also comes in the Harley and King Ranch, but those trucks are just special "option" packages associated with the Lariat model.

Just curious, but what difference would captain chairs make with or without the column shifter? They're the same seats.

Just wasted space..... Looks reallll good, but it's useless(when thinking about useable space).
Got the colum shift in my 77 and 79..... I like to be able to use the space for different little things.... even if it's just sliding from passenger seat to driver instead of getting out and walking around in say, the pouring rain.

Console
Well...like I said, I've got that console shifter in the '05 and I thought it'd be nice and cool. It is! It looks great...but...I need the floor space and honestly I need the "between the seat" space. I'd take out the middle section under the folding armrest and mount a console to the seat mounts to house all my fire department stuff....
But...I bit the big one and bought an '07 F-250 yesterday with the 40/20/40 so I don't have to worry about it anymore! Maybe in 2011 or 12 after the F-150 diesel has it's kinks worked out.

Good observation and something I didn't think of but, done on several occasions.
