My old man's '90 is pushing 180K, pulls a trailer regularly, and never smokes, ticks, knocks, or uses any oil. My buddy's truck is a year newer and had the motor overhauled at 115K. It's all strictly a function of how you take care of them.
My old 83 had 230,000 on it when i bought it, it had a valve job at 175,000, then it ate some rings around 250,000. Then i changed the motor. It never ran worse after the swap.
I just rolled over 240,000 miles on my 87 Bronco, still runs great. i have been waiting on the damn thing to die so i can swap it out with something with more power, but it just refuses to quite. and how can you argue with that.
my friends 302 in his 1970 ford has made the odometer roll over twice and is back up to about 66,000 and all he has done to it is give it a new set of gaskets a few months ago and it still is very strong
