Price increase on Lubricants 1 May 2008

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but figured I would post this so at least those that are able can stock up on there favorite products.

Exxon-Mobil announced on March 18th that effective 1 May it will increase the price of its lubricants and greases by up to 9%

ConocoPhillips announced March 19th they will increase 5-10% effective 1 May.

Shell announced March 20th a price increase of 10% effective 2 May.

Citgo announced on March 24th it will icrease prices 10% effective 1 May.

Chevron took the lead and announced Feb 21st it will increase prices 5-9% effective March 20th.

This could easily result in an increase of $1.00 per gallon for engine oils.

Bottom line - Get your stuff before 1 May.........

Syn Rotella already went from $16.24 to $16.94 at Wally-World. What is that, about 5%?

The next lubricant to come up will be K-Y ® Jelly. Can't wait to here their explanation.

You had to figure that lubes and anything petroleum based would shoot up in price if gas and diesel are getting way more expensive. Thanks for the heads-up though! I'll make sure that I stock up on oil and all other lubes and stuff.

No, you're not nutz. I started looking at prices in terms of gallons of diesel recently. "hhmmm... if I bring my lunch instead of going out, that buys me a gallon or two" etc, etc... Here's a scary pic. Just took it yesterday -- hope it's not a glimpse into the near future:

Oil Rebate

For those of ya'll running Delvac - Mobil is giving rebates on 1 & 5 gal purchases.

I'm going to stock up now before the price increase - limit is like 15 gals.

Rebate is $3/gal or $15/5 gal. Drops the price to like $5/gal - plan to clean out the W-Marts around here. They usually don't have but 4-6 gals on the shelf @ a time.

That $9.99 price on the sign has to be for a carton of cigarettes, not for fuel or gasoline!
