what all can cause

the od light to blink... and btw this is not in my truck but it is in a 95 f-350 dually with a 7.3 powerstroke... my bosses truck it is flashing and from what i understand it makes it shift hard... correct??? it shifts and about breaks your neck when it is cold you have to let off of the go pedal to get it to shift but when it warms up it shifts hard what causes this?? and what would be the first thins i should check??? i am gonna check the codes tomarr... and i will let you all know what they are??? and i think the speed control sensor is bad but i am not sure the other day the sensor came out...

VSS, bad wiring, blown fuse, damaged tone wheel, trans overtemp, trans codes......on and on the list goes. a code will send you in the right direction.

ok i will just wait then and get the codes tomarr and let yo all know so i can find out what they are... and my edge should read the tranny codes to right???

that's what happened to my truck when my dad first got it when the trans went!!!!!!!! we shut the truck off after we saw the light blinking and then it wouldn't start up again cause the code was blocking it from starting to try to save the tranny i guess...... dealer told us the trans got too hot and set a code and that the trans was fried.... GOOD LUCK

ok i got the codes... and sorry it took so long on some of my rental property the pump went down in a well... so you know... but i got a p1748 and a p1728 what are these??? and thanks for the help... one of them said something like a transmission slip error... could that mean a bad set of clutches??? or torque converter??

mine started flashing just before my front seal blew...trans was on its way out anyway so just doing a complete rebuild. but hopefully you wont have to go thru that...

1728** TCC Trans slip error - converter clutch failed Solenoid failure or mechanical failure
1748** EPC EPC malfunction Circuit failure, PCM

Neither of which are good! you need to get a pressure gauge to make sure tranny pressures are ok. The 1748 if set for low pressures (not enough holding power) then that could set the 1728.

can i just get a normal pressure guage??? and where do i need to hook it in at... and what pressures should i see???

oh... keep in mind that when the light is flashing when it shifts it snaps your neck back... like almost enough to give you wiplash...
