I am pretty sure the boost valve goes in the accumulator body which doesn't require removal of the trans just the Acc. body.

The accumulator boddy? I've been in there just the accumulators and line presure modulator. no boost valve. http://www.sonnax.com/part_summary.p...3&make=2&unit= in the pick in this link it looks like it goes in the pump. the guy at the trans shop I bought the stuff in assured me it could be changed with the trans in the truck but?

Thanks for the respones TJ

George:

I am the fartherest thing from a tranny tech but just surfing through the Sonnax site that you provided it clearly shows that the boost valve goes into the: "Pump Body" after low pressure leak down tests are preformed.

Hopefully one of the tranny guru's will jump in, C00nhunter,Madvan,TJ,the rest of you???

I am no tranny Guru thus my wrong answer above. if that link is what you bought then yes the tranny has to come out and the pump needs to be removed.

George:
What is going on that makes you suspect that you need to replace the Boost valve?

What are the normal symptoms of a failing Boost valve in general?

It takes a while for revers to engage and soft shifts. I'm just replacing it with some other parts in the valve body to firm up the shifts a bit. I replaced the line presure modulator and the accumlulator springs I'm happy with how it turned out so far. the only thing I'm not 100% happy with is the 2/3 shift is a little softer than the 1/2 shift I might change some thins around in there tomarow.

Also low line presure/soft shifts. Plus this valve is much stouter than the stock ones.
