01 F250 7.3 automatic, if I just drain the pan replace the transmission filter and refill it with fluid does anyone know how much fluid it will take to fill it? Also, these trucks don't have a drain plug on the torque converter like the dodges does it?

 

I know if you are just droping the pan that it takes 8 quarts to fill it up. I am not sure how much the converter holds, but I do believe there is a drain on it.

The 2001s do have a drain plug in the torque converter.

 

The info I have read is Ford stopped putting in Torque Converter drain plugs after Aug 2001 built date.. If yours is built before that, i would drain the TC also..

 

All 2001s were built before August, 2001. They changed to 2002 model year trucks in July, 2001.
