3.0 Vulcan intro year

I am trying to find out which manual tranny(4x4) I can use on my 99 3.0 v6 in my ranger.

Mainly I need information on what year was the Vulcan V6 introduced in to production. So I can match tranny to my engine.

I will try to locate a tranny locally if possible.

Smile 3.0 Vulcan intro year

Actually the Vulcan V6 was first introduced for the 1986 model year and originally designed to be the optional engine in the Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable. In 1991 it became available in the Ford Ranger where it replaced the Cologne 2.9 engine (which it is not related to) as the base V6.
