Boring and Stroking

How much of a horsepower and torque gain should I expect from Boring a 5.4L from a 3.55 to a 3.92? Then Stroking it from a 4.16 to 4.415?

if that is all you are doing then not much. you need more air to feed the extra displacement. no change in air means no change in power. for your money you will get alot more power from a set of ported heads and a good exhaust.

I plan on changing the displacement from a 330 to a 428, dual overhead cams, high lift cams and valves, porting and polishing the heads, a 2.8 Liter Kenne Bell Supercharger, Headers, true dual exhaust, intercooler, dyno tuning, 4.10 rear end, and a 6 speed auto tranny.

Johnny Langton is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
3.70 bore is the largest you can get a modular block out to until you run out of room to seal the heads-the bore spacing is very close, and that doesn't leave much of room for overboring.

Had to look at your profile...but didn't find the answer as to why you are asking this question.

You are headed down the wrong road with this engine.
Peruse the December 2007 Road and Track. Super Snake Mustang, bigger blower and other (unspecified in the article...) mods, 605 horse.
Stock bore and stroke.

Feb 2008 Car and Driver, 0-200-0 article. 2006 Ford GT. First place. Drives easy on the street. 10.52 @ 152 in the quarter. 0-200-0 in 26.5 seconds. Estimated HP: 1098. Stock crank, rods, pistons....

In these two cases, why wouldn't they add displacement instead of bigger blowers or twin turbos?

Perhaps you should do more research.

The OP says he wants to use a supercharger.

I think Ford developed these engines with supercharging in mind. Now the GT engine is probably the recipient of some special parts when it is sold at the stock 500 horse level. That those parts live at 1000 horse is pretty impressive. The Shelby at 605 STILL HAS A WARRANTY. They will up it to 725 w/o warranty.

As pointed out earlier, you really can't do a big overbore, and why add stroke when you are already over 4"?

On these motors, it seems like you add boost, not cubes.

I agree. The stroke is way too long. A 460 is only 3.85" vs 4.17" for the 5.4L.

The new 6.2L should be a great engine when it is released!!

can't go that big with a 5.4. they don't make a 6speed auto. not yet atleast. do you know how much money all this is going to cost you? i don't know what your goal is but you better have a big wallet to do what you want. what kind of power are you wanting to get?

Yep, about .020 over is all the block will allow.

Go to www.boss330racing.com for 5.4L power.

Seeing as how the Modulars only have a 3.94" bore spacing, a 3.92" bore would leave you with no cylinder wall. No cylinder wall no power.
