Phillip Guidry is starting off with a positive reputation.
How to tell if tuner is allready installed ?

I bought my 98 4.6l used.......from a dealership....I want to buy a Superchips tuner for it.....but what if the previous owner had one installed and didn't remove it ?.....I assume if there is a S-chip tuner in it now....the tuner would warn me of being locked if I tried to upload...but what if there is a different brand in it now ?......I don't want to end up having to send off the ECU to get it back to square one if at all possible.......by the way...the last digit on the calib. inside the door has been written over with a sharpie to some other alphabet ?...thanks in advance....

ReAX is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.ReAX is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
You can look for a hard chip on the ECM, but if it's a tune, you'll have download it to do anything. Any Ford Dealership can reflash it back to stock for you, if the tuner is blocked. Not all tuners leave an artifact, I think superchips may have had one, or my Sniper Special Forces early version had one. Bully Dog is supposed to have one.

Look, see these two tow hooks? They look like tusks. And what kind of animal has tusks?

there's a very fine line between not listening, and not caring. I like to think that I walk that line every day of my life.
