I smell gas

I towed a boat 3 hrs last sunday, every time I went uphill and the tranny kicked down I could smell gas quite strong.

Normally I don't smell anything, just when its under a heavy load.

Its a 1995 E350 EFI 5.7 windsor engine. XLT van.

Any ideas?

Could be your fuel filler neck decayed and cracked. There is also a vent hose that runs right next to same.

Could also be the fuel rail, o-rings at each injector, pressure regulator, etc.. You need to take the doghouse off to look at that. Fumes are flammable, be careful!

Good call, I'll try driving with the doghouse removed til I can smell fuel then pull over and see if I can track it down. Thanks.
